Veterans Day is a day set aside to honor all our Americans who, throughout our history, have served in our military, each doing all required of them to keep our Nation safe and free. Each serving has given their word to give up their life if necessary.
It was November 11, 1919, when then President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed that each November 11 from that year forward would be recognized as “Armistice Day” to celebrate the Armistice that ended WWI on November 11, 1918, and to remind all Americans of the great tragedy and horror of War.
When WWI ended, all truly believed that that War would be the last World War. In fact, they were so certain that they named WWI as the “War To End All Wars” – but sadly it was not to be. Less than 20 years later, Adolf Hitler and his German forces invaded Poland, setting into motion an even more costly and destructive WWII.
In 1954, Congress changed the name of this Day of Remembrance from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.
THAT IS WHY WE ARE HERE TODAY – TO REMEMBER!
Our Story today is the story of the WWII “Battle of the Bulge”, one of the harshest battles in all of WWII. It is being told to us by four Veterans who were there in that Battle. The Battle was so horrific that they were finally forced to surrender. Some thought that surrender could save them, but it wasn’t to be. With little nourishment or proper care, so many of them died walking on the road to the German Prison Camp where the dying and suffering only continued. But God was with them, and they never gave up.
It is all true as told by the men who were there.
The show is formatted to fill a 1-hour time slot with an actual length of 44 minutes. It follows the SRN Talk Clock with segment lengths and breaks, the same as last season.
The goal in all of my shows is to honor those great Americans who have made our nation great. And, to honor Almighty God for His great faithfulness to our America
